A greater adjutant stork being released by IFAW-WTI’s MVS team in Morigaon, Assam on September 17. The stork was rescued from the same place in January this year by the volunteers from the Centre for Environment and Social Research (CESR). The bird was nursed at the Centre for about eight months before it was released.
A two-three month old female elephant calf, separated from her herd, being taken for reunion by the Forest Department and IFAW-WTI in Deepor Beel, Assam on September 8. After several failed attempts of reunion, the calf was transported to CWRC. The calf is presently under nursing at the Centre.
A young male elephant lies upside down in a ditch in Borsapori Tea Estate, Golaghat, Assam on September 12. A team of Forest Department and International Fund for Animal Welfare - Wildlife Trust of India rescued the elephant. An excavator was used to level the sides of the ditch and free the elephant, which ran back to the forest.
An IFAW-WTI animal keeper of CWRC carries a Burmese rock python to release it back in the wild. The python was rescued from Hojai of Nowgaon district in Assam on March 8 by the Forest staff after people attacked it. It had severe cut injuries on its head and was critical when admitted to CWRC. It was released on September 15.
Bodoland Territorial Council and IFAW-WTI staff release an adult male Burmese rock python at Sapor in Aie valley on September 13. The python was caught by public at Sapor in Kokrajhar.
A spectacled cobra is being released in Charaikhola in BTC, Assam on September 16. It was rescued in Shantinagar of Kokrajhar the same day after it entered in the Public Works Department office.
